Our Adoption Process

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is Baby Beaks located?

Baby Beaks is located in Redland Bay, Queensland. We service Brisbane and South East Queensland, with freight available to suitable locations.

Are your birds hand-raised?

Yes. Our babies are ethically bred and lovingly hand-raised with regular human interaction, premium nutrition and plenty of care. Our goal is to raise confident, well-socialised companion birds.

Can we visit the birds?

Visits are available by appointment only. We are a family-run breeder, not a pet shop, so appointments must be arranged with us in advance.

How do I secure a bird?

A deposit is required to secure a specific available baby. The remaining balance must be paid before or upon collection, as arranged with us. Our terms and conditions must be read and accepted before purchasing.

Can you hold a bird while I wait for its colour or DNA results?

Unfortunately, we cannot hold birds while customers wait for colour development or DNA results. Babies reach an important rehoming age, and extended holds may delay them from finding their suitable families.

Are your birds DNA sexed?

DNA sexing may be available depending on the species and individual bird. Please check the bird’s listing or contact us for further information. We cannot guarantee gender based on appearance unless the species is visually sexable.

When will my baby be ready to come home?

Every bird develops at its own pace. Babies leave only once they are fully weaned, eating independently and ready for the transition into their new home. We will provide an estimated timeframe and keep you updated.

How often will I receive updates?

We provide weekly updates while your baby is being hand-raised. Caring for and feeding our babies remains our priority, so we cannot provide daily photographs or updates.

Do you offer freight?

Yes, freight may be available depending on your location, the bird’s age, weather conditions and suitable transport arrangements. Freight costs are additional and will be discussed before booking.

Do you sell travel cages and food?

Yes. Travel cages, premium weaning seed and selected bird-care products are available separately or as part of one of our take-home packages.

What food will my bird be weaned onto?

Our babies are weaned onto a varied diet that includes premium-quality seed, fresh vegetables, grains, sprouts and other suitable foods. We will explain your baby’s current diet before collection to help make the transition easier.

What happens if I can no longer care for my bird?

Please contact us as early as possible. We may be able to assist with surrendering or finding a suitable new home; however, surrender does not include financial compensation.

Do you offer support after collection?

Absolutely. Every Baby Beaks family receives honest advice and lifetime support. If you ever have questions about settling, feeding, behaviour or general care, you are always welcome to contact us.

How do I join the waitlist?

Complete our online waitlist form and tell us which species you are hoping for. We will contact you when a suitable baby becomes available. Joining the waitlist does not guarantee a particular colour, gender or timeframe.
